Introduction to Woodworking

A bespoke 2 day course designed to be the perfect entry into the world of woodworking. Make your very own toolbox using traditional techniques in our shared workshop.

Introduction:

 

Taught by a professional woodwork teacher our bespoke course covers the basic hand tools and techniques to get you started in woodworking.

​

Over 2  days you will create an open toolbox using a variety of traditional methods and tools. No experience is needed as everything will be fully explained and demonstrated on the day.

​

We keep our class sizes small so you will have opportunity to ask questions, practice , and receive feedback.

Course Content

 

- Introduction to tools used:

 

Marking out tools:

 - Combination Square

 - 300mm Steel Rule

 - Measuring Tape

 - Sliding Bevel

 - Marking Gauge

 

Hammers:

 - General Hammer

 - Pin Hammer

 - Wood or Rubber Mallet

 

Cutting Tools:

 - Tenon Saw

 - Smoothing Plane

 - Chisels 6mm and 18mm

- Plan and mark out your design.

 

- Trim softwood to size. (Material supplied by Makers Quarter)

​

- Sharpen planer blade and smooth wood.

​

- Mark and cut dovetail joints.

​

- Router rebate to fit bottom of toolbox.

​

- Glue and dowel joints.

​

- Sand & finish.
